This silk scarf features an image from Bonnie Ashmore’s painting Flux, and is part of PEM’s The Scarf Project. The project was inspired by Bonnie’s work which coincides with PEM’s visiting exhibition, World of WearableArt.
In October of 2010, Bonnie Ashmore was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, at the age of 39. Seeking to create a visceral way to understand her experiences she created a series of 29 paintings depicting the 29 infusions she underwent at the Mass General Cancer Center. Her painting Flux, featured on this silk scarf depicts the molecular diagram of the drug Taxol.
PEM is proud to be partnering up with Massachusetts General Hospital to introduce The Scarf Project. For every scarf purchased, a second scarf will be donated to a patient undergoing treatment at the Mass General Cancer Center.
